We owe a world of gratitude to the men and women of the Denver Fire Department for the work they do around the clock, every day to keep our citizens safe and secure. Founded in 2007 by Josh Hanfling and other business and community leaders, Friends of the Denver Fire Department supports our firefighters by educating the community about the Department and raising funds for firefighter health and wellness programs. Friends of the Denver Fire Department also promotes fire safety and prevention and works to improve the quality of life at local fire stations.
You can help by participating in one of our events, volunteering, making a cash or in-kind donation, or just keeping up with us by joining our mailing list. Whatever you do, next time you see a Denver firefighter, say thanks and tell them you're a Friend of the Denver Fire Department.
Denver Fire Department, Denver Firefighters Local 858 and Friends of Denver Fire Work Together to Secure $1.4 Million from FEMA
The Denver Fire Department has been awarded nearly $1.4 million from the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to buy 242 state of the art breathing apparatuses and 262 sets of turnout gear, the protective suits firefighters wear into a fire. The grant was one of the largest awards in the country made during a recent round of FEMA funding.
The FEMA grant will fund 80% of the total cost of this equipment. Friends of Denver Fire has launched a community-wide campaign to raise the remaining 20% or $350,000. Please DONATE NOW.
